Jesus went through the baptism of blood in His crucifixion. Following Him, the Church suffered martyrdom and death. This testifies to surrender in total sacrifice, like that of a burnt offering upon the altar fire.

The main thing is that the kingdom of God is at hand. The kingdom of God descending from heaven is pressing to come. Without this, there is no proclamation; without this there is no service of the Word; without it there is no apostleship, no discipleship, no pupils in the school of Jesus Christ.
